Acknowledgement of Country

ANMAC honours the traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We acknowledge their continuing connection to the land, waters and sky. We acknowledge our gratitude that we share these lands, waters and sky today, our sorrow for the costs of that sharing, and our hope and belief we can move to a place of equity, justice and partnership together. 

ANMAC would like to acknowledge the Ngunawal, Ngambri and Ngarigu people, the Traditional Custodians of the lands upon which ANMAC’s head office is located on in Canberra, ACT.  ANMAC has eight employees that work interstate, we also acknowledge the Giabal, Jagera, Jarowair and Turrbul people in Queensland, Kaurna people in South Australia and the Wadawurrung people and Dja Dja Wurrung people in Victoria. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.  

Our vision for reconciliation

As the independent accrediting entity for nursing and midwifery education our vision of reconciliation is to work collaboratively with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders to promote reconciliation through ensuring:  

• nursing and midwifery programs include content specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples health, history and cultures 
• graduates meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's standards for practice. This includes caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally safe and appropriate manner.  
• we meet the ANMAC Strategic Objectives of 'Improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health'.

ANMAC's Reflect RAP forms an integral part of commitment to reconciliation and to promoting the health, history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their communities.

Innovate RAP

ANMAC is planning and developing the Innovate RAP. The Innovate RAP provides us with an opportunity to be aspirational and innovative within our sphere of influence and bring our stakeholders, both internal and external on our reconciliation journey. We look forward to strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through our Innovate RAP.
